7 Creative Ways to Showcase Yearly School Photos

School and September mean “Picture Day!” to many parents in the United States. We sent our kids off to school that morning with their hair combed, and wearing a sparkling new outfit (hoping and praying it still looks good at picture time).

But when we get the prints of the adorable school portraits, what happens next?

Most of us admire our kids’ pictures for a few days and maybe give some to grandparents at Christmas. Eventually, the rest of the prints we ordered accumulate in a box, forgotten for years to come.

What if you rescued those photos out of storage, to display in some fun and creative ways? The challenge: avoiding displays that make your child uncomfortable or embarrassed when people see them.

Here are some ideas for creatively displaying yearly school portraits.

Three Tips for Organizing Albums in Apple Photos

Three Tips for Organizing Albums in Apple Photos

Are you overwhelmed by the large quantity of photos in your Apple Photos Library?

Do you get annoyed when you have to scroll through ALL of your photos to find the ones you’re looking for?

There is a solution! Albums to the rescue!

An Album is simply a collection of images in Apple Photos. Apple Photos gives you the freedom to create your own albums and folders in the app. Organizing your photos in this way eliminates the time-consuming task of searching for images in the library.

In this post, I’m going to show you to three ways to create and organize albums, so you never need to worry about digging around for a particular image again. You’ll know exactly where your photos are, and how to find them quickly and easily. (more…)

Photo Displays for Dorm Rooms and Other Small Spaces

Summer has flown and back to school season is here. College students are moving into dorms and small apartments, and secondary school students are decorating their lockers.

Whether setting up a dorm room, small apartment, office, or desk, it’s nice to include little reminders of home in your decor.

Some of those reminders can be family photos. This may include a few photos of parents, siblings, best friends, and family pets.

The challenge: in small spaces, there’s very little room to decorate, and a lot of the space for displaying photos is shared with other people (like roommates).

Here are our favorite ideas for displaying photo reminders of home in small living spaces. (more…)

A New Home for Picture This Organized

Our New Home – Take a Look Inside and Meet Our Team

Nobel Prize-winning writer George Bernard Shaw once said, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

We’ve seen a number of changes at Picture This Organized since May. We believe each one represents progress, but more importantly, each action benefits our current and future clients.

You may have already noticed our new logo and redesigned website. But that’s not all that’s new.

Earlier this month, we moved our offices from my home into a spacious, corporate building in the Denver Tech Center. This new office suite will help our expanding team meet the needs of our clients.

In this post, I’ll share some details (and some photos!) of our new location, and introduce you to our newest team members. (more…)

Understanding the Basics of Apple Photos

Understanding the Basics of Apple Photos

If you’re a Mac user like me and take pictures with your iPhone, then you probably have some of your photos stored on your computer in the Photos app.

Photos for macOS, or Apple Photos, is the photo library for Mac users. When you upload your photos to Apple Photos, you can view, edit, organize, and share them — all in one place.

When I’m working with my own photos, I prefer using the Apple Photos app over any other photo library system. It’s my favorite app because:

  • Apple Photos is a convenient library system that stores everything in one place.
  • Your photos reside in a closed environment, housed within your own account. No one can mine your photo data containing your personal information to use in marketing and advertising.
  • Apple Photos syncs with all of your devices. You can use it on your phones, tablets, and computers.
  • Photos for macOS is a secure system. You can set up two-factor authentication to control which devices have approval to access your iCloud account.

If you feel like your knowledge of Apple Photos is limited, read on for some tips on understanding what’s inside this powerful app. (more…)
