Make a Bucket List
Many people have traditions they do every year to celebrate the fall season. Putting all of these traditions in one place can be a fun way to get in the festive spirit and make sure you get to everything you want to do in the autumn months. You can make your own or find one online to print and frame. Framing your print allows you to display your list as fall decor, and you can check off items with an expo marker as you do them. To make your own, you simply use markers and paper or you can make one digitally using apps like GoodNotes, Procreate, or Illustrator for IPad to draw icons and write activity ideas. Some activities to add to your list include visiting a pumpkin patch, going on a hayride, trick-or-treating, drinking a pumpkin spice latte, baking pumpkin bread, watching favorite fall or halloween movies, sipping apple cider, burning an autumn candle, etc.

Using Photos to Help with Fall Decor
The timing for bringing out pumpkin decor is debated amongst people who never want summer to end and those who can’t wait for the fall season to begin. Whether you decorate in August, after Labor Day, or on the first official day of autumn, it is nice to know where you have put things in the past. You can use photos of home decor to mark where things were the previous year. This makes seasonal decorating manageable and not so overwhelming if you have a lot of decorations or a large house to cover. Working off of photos sets a baseline from past years, and you can always choose to change things around or make small shifts as you pick up new fall decorations. You can also incorporate photos into your fall decor by changing out photo prints in frames to include your fall leaf or pumpkin patch photos from the previous year. This allows you to revisit memories and add another level of festive decorations to your home.

Photos to Capture
There are so many events in the autumn months that are perfect opportunities for annual photos. These photos can be collected throughout the years and are so special to look back on. For example, my son and daughter-in-law always drive into the mountains to take family photos in the fall leaves. They began this photo tradition when they were newlyweds, and now they have years of fall photos to commemorate how their family has grown each year. Photos of going to pick out pumpkins at the pumpkin patch are also a fall favorite. Taking photos of kids' Halloween costumes each year is a great way to document growth and can be a lot of fun to look back on when they are grown. You can also take photos of your favorite fall recipes or baking memories as you make yummy fall treats.

Information to Write Down
You may not always remember the context of each photo you take, so it can be helpful to write down key pieces of information that can help preserve the stories that go with your photos. For example, you may want to record what you did at events like trunk-or-treat, halloween parties or how halloween costumes were chosen. It is also special to write down how specific traditions were started and how they may have changed over the years. Noting who was at specific events or in special photos is also helpful information to have. Tools you can use to document these memories include the notes app, the caption feature in Apple Photos, or taking photos of helpful information like invitations, signs, or recipe cards.
